DIGMYPICS REAL TIME SCANNING

I've been following the USPS's tracking updates for the past couple days to make sure no one destroyed my (actually some other family--I have no idea who they are) 2x2 slides en route to Arizona. I'm sending them to digmypics.com to have them professionally scanned to try to find out who the actual owners are. If you've not read the story, you can do that here.
At first I was skeptical of the circa 2006-looking website. No offense, honestly, but sending off irreplaceable photos to a company I've never heard of is frightening (I know, I'm a pansy; however, this could bring the blog, the story, the journey to a halt if the photos were lost or damaged). But I did send them out and today at 10:39am the photos arrived at DigMyPics. Using the USPS tracking updates, I received a text notification on my smartphone and double checked via the website to see more details.

I also received an email from DigMyPics stating that they got my photos and they're waiting to be scanned. I followed the link in the email which brought me to the DigMyPics Real Time Scanning feature, which is really neat.

At this point in time, no photos have been scanned yet, and on the website they politely explain why they do not scan your photos right away. Another tab on the site is your order process review where one of the photo experts had apparently opened the package because they left a note that said, "reviewed incoming, no questions at this time-CD"

I'm so pumped that I will see these photos, enlarged, at 4000 dots per inch (DPI), at 18 megapixels (MP)! It will bring me one step closer to finding out more about the family in the photos I found at the thrift store.
